Habitudes by Tim Elmore combines images, relatable stories, and experiences into leadership development curriculum and lesson plans that resonate with today’s young adults, equipping them to navigate through life’s challenges and opportunities.
Snapchat, Instagram, Emojis… this is how today’s young adults communicate-through images. What if there was a simple way to leverage their language to equip them with the leadership and life skills they need to succeed in school and life?
That’s why we created Habitudes. Grounded in established research, Habitudes is an image-based leadership development curriculum that empowers educators, coaches, parents and adult leaders to prepare any student to become a leader. Using stories, images and experiences, Habitudes teaches young adults valuable perspectives and leadership habits, helping them:
- Take initiative and set the pace for other team members.
- Overcome complex problems through creative persistence.
- Capitalize on personal strengths to be career-ready upon graduation.
- Develop critical thinking skills that produce better life choices

The work of Tim Elmore, and the Growing Leaders team is having a very profound impact on our school. We use the Habitudes curriculum on a regular basis, and the images have already gained a foothold as an integral part of our work with our students.
We are seeing students from all demographics, engage in the Habitudes lessons, and having conversations on how to prepare for their life ahead of them.
Habitudes is the most excellent program for first year students and beyond. It is a program that encourages and teaches deeper thinking and dialogue.
I encourage schools, and school districts to partner with Growing Leaders to help both educators and students to enhance their leadership skills. They have inspired our teacher-leaders, applying the Habitudes to R. everyday classroom situation's.
As a university dean, I believe anyone who cares about the future of this generation should digest the materials from Tim Elmore and growing leaders. He understands what students need, and how to deliver it in a relevant fashion.
One of the biggest things that habitudes has helped with is preparing our students to be a career and college ready upon graduation. Habitude helped each student become a better person and have a big picture perspective
Habitudes has it all. It has the implementation of why were doing this and the why behind 'you should have integrity'. We have found something that the kids are hooked on immediately.

How Habitudes Works
The Habitudes leadership curriculum, including our online resources and our series of Habitudes books, uses image-based learning to help instill important leadership habits in young adults. Each image introduces young adults to powerful leadership habits and principles rooted in real life, sparking conversations with facilitators that lead to memorable experiences. These unique and transformative encounters are a part of an ongoing process that builds leadership habits and attitudes.
