At the age of 19 months, Helen Keller (1880-1968) was stricken by scarlet fever which left her deaf, blind and mute. She was taught by Anne Sullivan (1866-1936) to overcome all her handicaps. Keller earned a degree cum laude in 1904 from Radcliff College. The Helen Keller and Anne Sullivan stamp was issued in 1980 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of her birth.
