Overcoming a Staggering Statistic About College Athletes

Fall is always a busy time, isn’t it? I know at Growing Leaders, our team has thoroughly enjoyed connecting with you at events, conferences, workshops, and training sessions on preparing tomorrow’s leaders today. This week, we’ve been filming the new season of Habitudes for Athletes. I wanted to take a few minutes to share with you an inspiring story that correlates with the Habitude, Baggage Fees.

Georgetown University medical center recently released a statistic that today’s college athletes are twice as likely to struggle from depression and angst as former athletes.

A great illustration of this is the University of Alabama football team in 2011. This was the year that Tuscaloosa, AL was swept through by a devastating tornado. The team was awarded with the Disney Sports Spirit Award as a result of their commitment to helping the community overcome the struggle and the pain of this time.

In this video blog I share how one student-athlete overcame this staggering statistic.
